Lily's hip troubles

So to make a long story short, Lily has developmental hip dysplasia (DDH). There were no outward signs of her DDH (usually you feel hip clicking, thigh folds are uneven, unstable gait or limping) and we really had no clue that she was having issues. A little while ago Liliana's pediatrician was concerned how her left foot turned out when she walked. After a few sets of x-rays and multiple trips to 2 orthopaedic surgeons she got the DDH diagnosis. Turns out the left foot has nothing to do with the right hip issues so there was some definite blessing for that issue. There was no way we'd have known about her issues without the x-rays we got.

So for now, she's in a abductor hip brace. It keeps her legs positioned in a frog-like position. here's a picture of her in it:

And here's the back of the brace:

We're all adapting pretty well but could use some prayers and good thoughts. We have about 2.5 months before we re-xray and revisit the ortho. At that point we may have to talk about surgery which would be about as hard on her as it gets. It would require a 1/2 body cast from waist to toe...yeah...for an 18 month old toddler? Yikes.

:( Poor Lily! How much time does she have to spend in that brace? Bless her little heart! My prayers are with you all!

You mentioned something about this Saturday but I really wanted to wait to ask you about it. Poor Lily! What makes it so much worse is she's at the age where she wants to get down and explore. You are all definitely being sent good vibes and are in our prayers <3

so sad... and probably not fun for any of you, but atleast it's now and not when she's older and might get a complex about it. good thing for docs that catch stuff like this!
